Dr. Sonia Sharma (formerly Taneja) has 20 years of professional Hindi teaching experience from prestigious and world-renowned American universities such as Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, and Columbia University in the City of New York. She has served as a Hindi professor at the Defense Language Institute, part of the US Department of Defense. She is professionally certified by ACTFL (American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages). Dr. Sharma was also on a team who successfully wrote Hindi teacher certification exam for the state of California and Hindi Regents exam for New York City Department of Education and has worked on Hindi iPhone, Siri, and iTunes in the Silicon Valley. Dr. Sharma has written two textbooks for adult Hindi learners in America (available on Amazon), several articles, and the first ever doctoral dissertation on adult Hindi learners in American universities. Dr. Sonia Sharma has received several awards for her work. She is now glad to offer online Hindi classes.
My doctoral research was based on adult Hindi learners in the US, though my students are both from the US and several other countries around the globe. My students are a mix of heritage learners of Indian background and non-Indian or nonnative learners. Students range from high school, college, university to adult working professionals, researchers, businesspersons, and diplomats. I have experience teaching Hindi successfully both in-person and online.
